Performers on their works

Yuri Akbalkan:

5.1.1:40 is a new 40-minute version of a composition originally created for the Pythian Games Composers’ Competition in St Petersburg a decade ago. Additional versions lasting 23 and 70 minutes, with and without video, also exist. 5.1.1 represents a signal-type structure comprising five analogue signals and a stereo pair of digital signals.

In addition to the sound score, there is also a separate score for the visual component and its implementation. The visual component is reduced to a homogeneous texture-frame interspersed with brief video episodes lasting 3 to 8 seconds. Otherwise, a black screen with a running timer is displayed. This deliberate visual restraint—an intentional deprivation of visual stimuli—is designed to encourage a more nuanced and complex auditory perception.

At the Pfup! festival, a version without the visual component will be performed.

Elena Khurgina:

‘Colored Silence’ is an audiovisual performance based on free improvisation and its correlation with the absence of drafting in music, drawing, and life itself.

It is inspired by the poems of T.S. Eliot and the sounds of nature and the city, and the quietest keyboard instrument – clavichord.

Rara Blue:

This was my first time going to perform in Germany. I got to be apart of the pfup audiovisual festival with many inspiring acts! I think making electronic music can be kind of isolating sometimes, compared to band music where the rehearsals aquire multiple people to play and change the energy with. Connecting with people at the shows who are just as into their niche electronic sounds or creations, makes me alive to share this passion. Thank u for giving me the stage 💕
