Das SPIIC+ Ensemble begibt sich auf eine faszinierende Zeitreise, bei der das Raumschiff ‘HARPSICHORD ONE’ und seine abenteuerlustige internationale Besatzung nach neuen Übergangsportalen zwischen den Dimensionen der musikalischen Vergangenheit, Gegenwart und Zukunft suchen. Dabei werden bekannte Planeten wie ‘CPE BACH’ und ‘G LIGETI’ angeflogen aber auch strahlende Fixsterne des musikalischen Kosmos wie ‘NEW JAZZ’ und ‘COM-PROVISATION’ erkundet. Das Logbuch verzeichnet dabei nicht nur faszinierende Zeitreisen durch die Epochen der Musikgeschichte sondern immer wieder auch close encounter mit schillernden Kometen wie ‘MICRO TONALITY’ und ‘SPATIAL AUDIO’ sowie andere aufregende Sternstunden im inner & outer space.
Eigens für diesen Abend hat das mit Studierenden verschiedener musikalischer Fachbereiche international hochkarätig besetzte SPIIC+ Ensemble ein Programm erarbeitet, bei dem das Cembalo gewissermaßen als eine Art musikalische Zeitkapsel im Mittelpunkt steht. Ausgehend von ausgewählten historischen Meilensteinen der Cembalo-Literatur hat das Ensemble nach neuen Wegen gesucht, Tradition, Moderne, Gegenwart und Avantgarde mit ihren je unterschiedlichen Ansätzen, Methoden und ästhetischen Idealen in einen zeitgemäßen Dialog zu bringen und gleichzeitig in eine kreative musikalische Praxis zu überführen, bei der die tradierte Trennung von Komposition, Improvisation und Performance überwunden und in einem ganzheitlichen Sinne neu gedacht und praktiziert wird.
Das Akronym SPIIC+ steht für Social Performance, Interdisciplinary Improvisation & Creativity und ist ein Teilprojekt des ligeti zentrums/ creative research lab., das unter der Leitung von Vlatko Kučan Improvisation als eigenständige Position im Sinne einer grundlegenden ethischen Haltung, als soziale Interaktionsgestaltung und als eine universelle kreative Methode nicht nur künstlerischer Produktion versteht und untersucht. Dabei spielt das aus Studierenden verschiedener Studiengänge zusammengestellte SPIIC+ Ensemble eine zentrale Rolle – als Instrument der künstlerischen Forschung, Ort des sozialen Austauschs und nicht zuletzt als wesentliches Vehikel der konkreten künstlerischen Produktion.
Das SPIIC+ Ensemble ist seit seiner Gründung im Jahre 2018 an zahlreichen Projekten, Konzerten und Festivals beteiligt gewesen. Internationale Resonanz hat es unter anderem durch die Auftritte bei dem „Bauforum Magistralen“ (Hamburg, 2019), „TENOR 2021 – International Conference on Technologies for Music Notation and Representation“ (Hamburg, 2021) und „WAC2022 – International Web Audio Conference“ (2022, Cannes) erfahren, wo das SPIIC Ensemble jeweils die viel beachteten Abschlusskonzerte bestritt.

The SPIIC+ Ensemble embarks on a fascinating journey through time, with the spaceship “HARPSICHORD ONE” and its adventurous international crew searching for new transition portals between the dimensions of musical past, present, and future. Along the way, they visit well-known planets like “CPE BACH” and “G LIGETI”, while also exploring radiant fixed stars of the musical cosmos such as “NEW JAZZ” and “COM-PROVISATION.”
The logbook records not only captivating time travels through the epochs of music history but also repeated close encounters with dazzling comets like “MICRO TONALITY” and “SPATIAL AUDIO”, as well as other thrilling stellar moments in inner & outer space.
Especially for this evening, the SPIIC+ Ensemble, composed of outstanding students from various musical disciplines, has created a program in which the harpsichord serves as a kind of musical time capsule. Starting from selected historical milestones in harpsichord literature, the ensemble has sought new ways to bring tradition, modernity, contemporary music, and avant-garde into a meaningful dialogue—one that unites different approaches, methods, and aesthetic ideals while transforming them into a creative musical practice. The goal is to overcome the conventional separation of composition, improvisation, and performance, rethinking and practicing them in a holistic way.
The acronym SPIIC+ stands for Social Performance, Interdisciplinary Improvisation & Creativity and is a subproject of the Ligeti Center / Creative Research Lab. Under the direction of Vlatko Kučan, it explores improvisation as an independent artistic position, an essential ethical stance, a model for social interaction, and a universal creative method beyond artistic production alone.
The SPIIC+ Ensemble, composed of students from various disciplines, plays a central role in this endeavor—as an instrument of artistic research, a platform for social exchange, and, ultimately, a key vehicle for concrete artistic production.
Since its founding in 2018, the SPIIC+ Ensemble has participated in numerous projects, concerts, and festivals. It has gained international recognition through performances at events such as:
