About the exhibition

150 years ago, the Hamburg Mint was completed near the central station and granted the right to mint the new German currency. Though absent from the neighborhood for more than 40 years, it has remained a formative presence. Today, the district is shaped not by coins but by social and urban values.

On the occasion of the Day of Open Monuments, we take this history as a starting point to reflect on values themselves — and present the group exhibition “Worthless” at the Münzburg.

The participating artists approach the theme from diverse perspectives: playful, sensual, provocative, and always discursive. Together, their works form a resonant whole.

More about my mixed-media installation  :blue/cloud study:

Coming from a musical background, Elena Khurgina approaches visual art through improvisation, silence, pauses, breath, notation, and rhythm.

Her mixed-media installation :blue/cloud study: experiments with sound, language, images, and video, capturing fleeting moments of life. What may appear worthless from the outside may, in fact, be the most precious — the moments that change our paths.

“Like the instant you speak to yourself and understand something, but cannot yet put it into words. Brief moments of stillness. A sideways glance that interrupts the endless flow. Breathing in and out. In silence, we hear ourselves most clearly.”

The accompanying book invites you to turn its pages.
